Integrated Special Scheme for Information Security Specialist cultivation
Abstract:
We review the status of Information Security as an educational
discipline in the UK as it has developed over the last 20-30 years. We
consider both academic aspects, initially driven by the development of
computer systems and the emergence of cryptography into the public
domain, and professional aspects arising from the widespread adoption by
Government, Commerce and Industry of electronic communications and
information processing. The subject incorporates both general education
in security specific technologies as well as specialist programmes for
certain government and indus try sectors. We are principally concerned
with the UK landscape and remark upon the various directions and choices
that are taken in this arena.
